LAIA XR revolutionizes surgical planning with Virtual and Augmented Reality

The combination of technology and medicine is crucial to improving patients' quality of life and optimizing clinical procedures. ARSOFT, a pioneer in Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality solutions, has taken a decisive step towards the future of medicine with the launch of LAIA XR, an advanced platform for medical image analysis and surgical planning incorporating the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Immersive Reality technologies.

In the field of surgery, precision and preoperative planning are crucial factors for the success of an intervention. Technological advances have allowed surgeons to have tools that not only optimize their capabilities but also enhance patient safety and well-being.

One of these tools is the LAIA XR platform. Developed by the Salamanca-based company ARSOFT, it is a healthcare software that facilitates healthcare professionals in studying their patients' medical images and surgical planning, employing the latest trends in Immersive Technologies and Artificial Intelligence.

LAIA XR enables doctors and surgeons to perform an immersive analysis on the three-dimensional reconstruction of the patient and, using artificial intelligence algorithms, automatically segment anatomical structures from medical images.

This tool allows for precise visualization of areas of interest to then meticulously plan each step of the intervention. By utilizing these technologies, the physician can visualize the segmented anatomy of the patient in 3D, providing an anatomical understanding incomparable to traditional visualization methods.

LAIA XR offers physicians a platform to study this anatomy and carry out surgery planning in a straightforward manner, but not only that, it also includes a system to access all this information in the operating room.

The process is simple: the physician uploads medical images collected by the patient's scanner (CT, MRI) to the platform, and after a few minutes, the artificial intelligence algorithms will have automatically processed the medical image, displaying segmented structures to the physician, who can then select them for planning. From that moment, they would be available for study using XR technologies (Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and Mixed Reality).

This tool aims to enhance visualization and analysis, providing more confidence to the physician and reducing the margin of error, ensuring that each procedure is performed with the highest level of precision and confidence.

Validation and success in the medical sector

LAIA XR has been validated with images from over 2,000 patients. It is the only platform on the market that automates the entire segmentation process necessary for pre-surgical planning and additionally provides the value of immersive visualization of three-dimensional medical images.

Physicians who have used this technology highlight its positive impact on the precision of interventions, as well as the reduction of error margins, directly contributing to better outcomes for patients.

The integration of this technology into surgical practice represents a significant step towards a more personalized and secure approach in medicine, highlighting its importance in the current clinical environment and its adaptation to the usual workflow
