The IMPULSO project ends

The IMPULSO project ends

The IMPULSO project (Investigation of 3D printing for its industrial validation and connectivity in a digital environment) ends after ten months of intense work. In its development we have worked hand in hand with our partners Sevilla Control, Cubicoff, the Andalusia Aerospace Business Cluster and the Innovative Cybersecurity and Advanced Technologies Business Group.

In this project we have digitized different machining processes of a part to support the operator through mixed reality technologies.

In this context, the main contribution of ARSOFT has been the use of Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality technologies for the virtualization of the machining process of an aviable metal part manufactured by 3D printing. For this, the following steps have been carried out:

  1.      Digitization of the content for the support during the machining process of the aviable part selected by Grupo Sevilla Control. At this point, it was observed that, until then, the operators had complex instructions in paper format to guide them during the process. In this sense, ARSOFT was in charge of digitizing these technical work instructions. To achieve this, the content creation platform in extended realities, EYEFLOW, was used, and a specific content was created with the aim that the operator would free his hands and stop looking at the paper every time he needed to perform one of the steps of the process. Thanks to the work of ARSOFT, the operator obtains the necessary instructions that guided him in real time in the tasks he had to carry out.

Results obtained:

- Increased user concentration when performing the process

- Reduced time to complete the task

- Improvement of the learning process

- Standardization and optimization of times

- Increased motivation of users to continue training or use the devices during their work activity.

       2. Visualization of content through mixed reality. In this context, a set of new functionalities was developed to make the content created with the ARSOFT platform accessible to mixed reality through the Hololens 2 device. From here, two new functionalities were achieved:

- Voice control mechanisms for navigation. Different voice commands allow the user to navigate through the digital environment without the need for interaction, and even provide feedback on the process to later generate a detailed report.

- Implementation of the ambidexterity module.

Results obtained:

- Functional module for mixed reality that increases the versatility of the EYEFLOW platform.

  1.   Visualization and connection with the Digital Twin. A set of new functionalities have been implemented to make the Digital Twin module operational and to be able to see, for example, the status of a plant in real time in both RA and VR, accessing information from IoT elements.

In this sense, it has been possible to implement the security of the communications carried out during the process and the multiplatform visualization has been achieved that allows seeing the data in real time and even interacting with them.

As a result of all this, an IoT display configurator was created on our EYEFLOW platform that allows any Digital Twin to be equipped with an advanced XR display layer.

Results obtained:

- Accessibility to Digital Twin data from any XR compatible device

- Improvement in the creation and editing of viewers within the EYEFLOW platform

- Improved security in communications

Thanks to projects such as IMPULSO financed by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Government of Spain, the European Union, the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the Innovative Business Associations Cluster, at ARSOFT we continue to innovate, continue to improve and continue to validate our solutions with large companies such as Sevilla Control, Cubicoff, the Andalusia Aerospace business cluster and the Innovative Cybersecurity and Advanced Technologies Business Group.
