The ARSOFT company, awarded at the XI "A tu Salud" Awards for its NextMed platform

These prizes, awarded by the newspaper La Razón, praise innovation and research effort in the world of Medicine. The NextMed solution has been awarded in the "Health Digitalization" category.

The ARSOFT company (https://www.arsoft-company.com/) dedicated to developing Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality solutions for sectors such as medicine or industry, has been awarded at the XI “A tu Salud” for its NextMed initiative within the “Health Digitization” category. For yet another year, the A TU SALUD supplement of the newspaper La Razón brought together the main representatives of the health sector to celebrate a new edition of its awards. The 2022 edition is the 11th edition of some awards in which the work that the company ARSOFT has been doing in the field of medicine in recent years has been valued. Specifically, the development of the NextMed platform has been awarded. A solution developed in collaboration with the VisualMed Systems research group of the University of Salamanca that improves the health system thanks to the use of new technologies such as, in this case, Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Reality (XR technologies).

The NextMed platform is designed for the study of medical images using these technologies. Through the segmentation and automatic generation of 3D models, NextMed helps medical professionals to study and manipulate the 3D model of the organs that have to intervene. In this way, and thanks to the three-dimensional dimension, the precision and safety of the surgeon when facing an operation is increased, since the system helps him to understand what the structures and tissues of his patients are like.

It is the only industrialized platform on the market that covers the entire process, from obtaining medical images and automatic segmentation, thanks to artificial vision algorithms implemented by the ARSOFT team, to their visualization with Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, which allows carrying out perform surgical planning in simulated settings. It is not a training tool with static content, it is a tool to view different content for each patient.
