Team Building at a Beehive: A unique experience for the ARSOFT team

At ARSOFT, we are always looking for new ways to strengthen creativity, improve team collaboration, and foster innovation. We know that to continue leading in the development of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) solutions, it’s essential to nourish our team with experiences that inspire, connect, and challenge our ways of thinking.

A few days ago, we decided to step away from the tech world for a moment and immerse ourselves in a different activity: a team-building day at a beehive. We traveled to Tiedra, a small town in Valladolid, where Setentaynueve, a family-owned company dedicated to the production and commercialization of beehive-based products, opened its doors to us. The experience not only allowed us to disconnect from our daily routine but also to learn valuable lessons from nature, which we could apply to our technological work. Want to know how it went?

Introduction to the Fascinating World of Bees

Upon arriving at Setentaynueve, we were warmly welcomed by Óscar, who guided us through this experience. The day began with a presentation about the inner workings of a beehive and the internal organization of bees. Every member of the ARSOFT team discovered the complexity and efficiency of these tiny insects, which operate as a truly collaborative community.

Bees are a perfect reflection of teamwork: each has a specific role, whether it's collecting nectar, guarding the hive, or caring for the larvae. This collaborative system is vital for the survival of the hive.

After the theoretical introduction, we moved on to learn about the production process for various bee-derived products. Setentaynueve specializes in the production of honey, propolis, royal jelly, and other apiculture products, all produced sustainably and by hand. During our visit to their facilities, we witnessed the meticulous process of harvesting honey, from extraction in the hives to its preparation and packaging for sale.

With the theoretical knowledge in place, it was time for the most anticipated moment: putting on protective suits and entering the beehive. Under the expert guidance of Setentaynueve’s team, we observed firsthand the inner workings of a beehive.

We were shown how bees collect nectar, transform it into honey, and meticulously care for the hive.

Changing Perspectives: Honey Tasting

One of the most interesting moments of the day was the honey tasting session. After the visit to the beehive, we gathered to taste a variety of honeys produced by Setentaynueve.

The team-building activity at the beehive was much more than just a day out of the office. It allowed us to reconnect as a team, learn valuable lessons from nature, and reflect on how these teachings can be applied to our daily work at ARSOFT.

While our work focuses on creating immersive digital worlds and developing advanced extended reality solutions, this experience in a completely natural setting showed us the power of an efficient collaborative structure. It also reminded us that innovation and adaptability are essential, both in nature and in technology.

Special Thanks

From ARSOFT, we would like to thank Óscar and Samuel from Setentaynueve for allowing us to enjoy this fantastic experience. We are confident that this day at the beehive will leave a lasting impression on our team, inspiring us to continue innovating with a collaborative mindset and openness to new perspectives.
